Alto Swim Lesson Staff

Our Swim Lesson Staff complete Alto Swim Club’s Swim Coach / Instructor Training. Each Swim Lesson Coach is certified in pediatric and adult CPR, AED & First Aid. Our staff all have competitive swimming experience at the club and /or colligate level and are passionate about teaching swimming to all ages and ability levels!

McKaela cannot wait for another great summer at the pool! McKaela swims in the Alto National Group and competes on Wesley College swim team. McKaela graduated from Notre Dame Belmont where she competed as a Varsity swimmer. McKaela is returning for her fourth year teaching and coaching with ALTO.

"I love being able to give back and share my passion of swimming with others through teaching swim lessons. My coaches have given my so many amazing opportunities and have developed my leadership skills in addition to my technical swim skills. During lessons, I want the kids to learn as much as they can, challenge themselves, have fun, and respect their teammates and others."

Naomi trains and competes with the Alto Swim Club National Group and swims at Pomona College. She was on the Varsity swim team at Lick-Wilmerding High School. She is entering her fourth year teaching and coaching with the Alto Swim School.

"My favorite thing about teaching swim lessons is creating a fun and interesting approach, while helping new swimmers learn the fundamentals of swimming! I work with beginners and also with competitive swimmers who want to develop better stroke technique. I'm really excited to help kids learn to love swimming as much as I do!"

Kate trains in the Alto Senior Group and swims for Lewis & Clark College. She attended Palo Alto High School where she swam with the Varsity swim team. Kate learned to swim with ALTO and continues to enjoy the challenge of competitive swimming. She is returning for her fourth year teaching and coaching with the Alto Swim School.

"I enjoy teaching swim lessons because I get to see families develop a love for swimming together. Helping young kids learn to swim is an exciting and rewarding experience for the whole family. Each lesson is an opportunity to work through challenges and learn new skills. I want every student to love swimming for life!"

Cecilia loves every aspect of swimming and cannot wait to share the sport with new swimmers! Cecilia trains with the Alto Swim Club National Group and swims on the Varsity team at Gunn High School. She is returning for her third year teaching and coaching with the Alto Swim School.

"I love teaching swim lessons and working with kids. Swimming is an important life skill and together we can make learning fun! For some, this is the first instance where they learn to trust and truly enjoy being in the water. It is a big step! With more advanced swimmers, we focus on technique development and learning how to swim with efficient, strong strokes."


Nina trains and competes with Alto Swim Club National Group and is on the Castilleja High School Varsity swim team. Her favorite part of swimming is being surrounded by people who love the sport as much as she does. Nina is returning for her third year teaching and coaching.

"I love being in an atmosphere in which everyone lifts each other up, I want to pass that sense of accomplishment, community, and fun onto all of those who I teach in swim lessons. I want to share my love for the sport, and help kids feel confident and enjoy themselves, while building and improving swimming skills.

Bella has been swimming most of her life and trained competitively with her club team and Palo Alto High School Varsity Swim Team. Bella loves the ALTO team culture and is motivated by everyone working together to achieve their swimming goals. Bella is currently in her third year at Amherst College.

"The best part about teaching swim lessons has to be finding creative and new ways to help swimmers improve. I modify drills to fit the needs of each swimmer and to help each person learn and best retain new skills. I like to teach how to have fun while still getting faster and keeping motivation!"

Maya trains and competes with the Alto Swim Club National Group and with Notre Dame High School Varsity swim team. Maya began swimming in elementary school and fell in love with the sport. She loves the chance to help new swimmers learn and get excited about swimming! Maya is returning for her fourth year teaching and coaching.

"Through swimming you learn goal setting, commitment and how to push through challenges. Every swim lessons is fun and exciting, and it is rewarding to see students learn to love the process. When I work with beginners, the focus is on mastering new skills. When I work with advanced swimmers, we refine technique and build strength."

Audrey trains in the Alto Swim Club Senior Program and with the Palo Alto High School Varsity swim team. Audrey loves ALTO because the team builds stronger athletes within a supportive community. Audrey is returning for her third year teaching and coaching.


"The best part about working with kids is constantly seeing improvement in their ability across each swim lesson. I like to focus on helping kids work towards their goals, while helping them overcome physical and psychological challenges. Most importantly, I want them to enjoy the sport as much as I do."

Sophia is a competitive swimmer with the Alto Swim Club Varsity Group and loves training and racing! Swimming has been a big part of Sophia's life for many years and she has worked teaching and coaching swimming for two years.

"I love the personal connection that develops through teaching swim lessons. Every student is different and each lesson is a chance to try something new. I especially enjoy working with beginning swimmers who are just becoming comfortable in the water. It is very rewarding to foster a love for the water as a student becomes excited about swimming."

Max trains in the National Group at Alto Swim Club and has been swimming for as long as he can remember! Max attends Brown University where he is a member of the Men's Swim Team and he has been teaching and coaching swimming for three years.

"I enjoy coaching young swimmers and helping them learn water safety while having lots of fun! It is great to work with the next generation of ALTO swimmers! Each season is an opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence, and progress to the next level. I enjoy helping kids of all ages learn to love swimming and improving their technique through swim lessons."

Alyssa loves swimming because it pushes her to be the best athlete possible, physically and mentally. Being a part of Alto Swim Club has really helped her with strengthening that mindset. Alyssa is returning for her fourth year teaching and coaching.

"I think the best part of teaching lessons and working with kids is seeing them improve and succeed over time. When I teach lessons, I tend to focus on making sure each kid has fun and is learning in the process. Honing in on small details and solidifying skills they already have is essential to teaching productive swim lessons."

Maddie has been swimming for as long as she can remember! Maddie is entering her third summer teaching swim lessons to students at every level, from beginners up to assisting with high school practices. Maddie graduated from Paly High School in 2019, where she was a swimmer and a team manager. Maddie is currently in her third year at Syracuse University.

"My favorite part of teaching swim lessons is seeing a swimmer progress throughout the summer. I like to focus on technique and making sure the swimmer is comfortable in the water alone. I love seeing how motivated our students are to get better no matter what."
